What was your dream when you were a kid? What was the reason?

When I was a kid, I want to become a lawyer because that was everyone dream at my era.

 

What was your dream when you were 18 years old? What was the reason?

When graduated from high school, I want to become an interior designer, because I love to see beautiful houses

 

What made you start thinking about social entrepreneurship/social enterprises? When was that?

After I got married, I started to get involved in social activities and in the last 5 years I started my social business in mushroom farming, that’s when I was thinking about going back to school and learn about social entrepreneurship.

 

How much do you think social entrepreneurs play an important role in the world?

I think it becomes more relevant now to have a social business as in a global world you cannot ignore about what happened in surrounding you.

 

What would you say to future social entrepreneurs / those who are interested in social entrepreneurs?

As social business will become a future business, it is important to learn how you deal with different people and different culture, it is not easy but it is worthwhile.

Who Ita is

Ita is the Mother of MSEs (our classmates; Master of Social Entrepreneurship). She is very kind and nice to everyone. She cares about each of us and supports us in her ways like mothers do to their children.

I have seen so many times, or maybe all the time, that Ita is laughing when she has conversations with her friends. Maybe they are very funny or Ita is just someone who laughs easily. Anyway, Ita is filled with happiness and positive vibes.

Its is such an adventurer as well. She loves traveling. You had better check her Facebook page, because you will find that she suddenly posts on Facebook and says that she is not in San Francisco but another country, then few days later, she is in a different country. She is just unbelievably powerful and energetic.

 

Awesome Episode

We had so many team presentations to give through the past year and Ita usually started the presentations as the first presenter for the introduction of the topics or contents. Because Ita was so calm, showing her dignity and standing straight, she always looked as if she were giving speeches as a magistrate or the President. People would listen to her carefully and seriously.

I liked to see that she was speaking in front of us every time, actually.

 

The Power of MSE

What Ita is holding is a symbol called “go-en(ご縁)”, which means ‘fate’, ’destiny’ and ’special tie.’

I believe that it is meant to be that we met in San Francisco! I studied Social Entrepreneurship with Ita for a year, saying “We will make the world a better place.” I would love to spend the rest of my life with MSEs (Master of Social Entrepreneurship; my classmates) until the very day I die. They have already completely changed my life.

At the same time, however, I also think that we should not be together all the time, because that is not the reason why we learned Social Entrepreneurship. That is not how we will deliver the impact we want to give to society and to the world.

I think MSEs are like dandelions. We were seeded at the first day at Hult and we bloomed on our graduation day. Our mission is that we spread all over the world like dandelions and seed the future, the next generation, from each place where each of us has landed.
