<Where the owls are from>
All over the world
<How I met the owls>
There is an owl cafe in Mino city, where is my hometown in Osaka, Japan.
One day I visited there to see what it is. It was pretty much what I imagined.
There is another story how I met them, but I will save it until ‘Inspirational Episodes’ below.
<Who the owls are>
Mostly, the owls I met at the cafe were very calm and rarely moved. That is what I expected, because they are owls. They must be more active at night.
However, some of them were much more energetic than I thought. They were moving and jumping around. The closer my hand were reaching them to touch, the more opened their eyes were, and they almost attacked me.
I am still wondering if their defensive instinct made them do it or they just hated me…
<Inspirational Episodes>
Owls are one of my favorite creatures. How? Hmmmmm… If I were reincarnated, I would choose to be a owl or a killer whale.
Anyway, I was very excited to meet owls at the cafe before actually going there, and what I saw there was what I expected to see…except the fact that the owls were chained…
I mean, apparently, owls have wings and are able to fly, so it is necessary for the cafe to do it. I just did not think about it so much.
I was not as happy as I was supposed to be to see the owls like that. I doubt how many people who actually visited there have felt the same way as I did, because I saw other’s face there. They were just enthusiastic about watching them, taking photos of the owls and touching them.
I was going to be one of them before visiting the cafe, but I took pictures only to show and express how I felt there.
I talked to one of the staff members at the cafe. She told me that the owls feel stress sometimes because people look at them and touch them a lot. So it is very important to take the owls out of the cafe to let them relaxed occasionally.
The cafe is just human’s ego. I guess I am also a part of it as a person who visited and took photos there.
It was after leaving the cafe that an interesting thing happened to me.
I still feel like something led me there.
There is a mountain that is not big but popular near the cafe. When I left the cafe, I felt like going up there.
I had my bike that time, so it was just workout for me. Training in beautiful nature makes me feel good every time. It was going to be like that.
In the middle of the mountain, I noticed that there was a crowd of some people. They seemed to watching something through their telescopes.
I asked one of the watchers, “What are you watching?” He answered, “Owls.”
This is what I saw through his telescope.
How beautiful the nature and the wild species are!!
He told me that the bigger one is a mother and the other is her kid that just became able to fly.
I realized that that was the way the nature is supposed to be.
It was totally a coincidence that I met two kinds of owls in one day; the ones that chained in a small cafe and the others that live in the nature without any limit.
At the same time I learned the beauty of the nature and wild creatures, I felt like they taught me, or showed me, how each human’s life should be.
We can do anything you want without setting up any limit. If you think ‘this is what I need to do’ ‘This is the way I should live’, that would be only because you think that way.
It was such a rare experience that I could have never gotten again in my life.
<What the owls are doing now>
The owls are getting popular and popular day by day at the cafe and entertaining visitors. On the other hand, the wild owls are growing up and they must enjoy their freedom. I hope they are passing their wildness to the next generations.
Since you are all over the world, I look forward to seeing you somewhere all over the world!! As I am nocturnal, let’s play a game together then!!
Oh by the way, owls are fortunate birds in Japan.
Owls are called ‘fukurou’ in Japanese and ‘fuku’ means luck. So the Japanese believe that owls bring fortune to you. Good luck to you!!
Beautiful owls!!, love is about let others be free, if we all learn this, there would be less suffer and more beauty in this world
thanks Keisuke!
Thank you so much for your warm-hearted words, Blanca! I agree. We still have so many things to learn from the beautiful nature!
